Leawood Forest has shored up the right side of their defense with the signing of Haitian right-back, Venelson Ernest in this summer's transfer window. Ernest is a vital player for the Haitian team and proved himself on the pitch. Ernest was sure to draw interest from a number of Select League clubs, especially rival Overland Park FC.
"We wanted to make signing Venelson a top priority or we knew we'd lose him to a rival." stated Leawood Forest owner and Chairman Brandon Fisher.
Even though there has yet to be a ball kicked in the brand new Select League, one can imagine the derby matches between Overland Park FC, Martin City Brewers FC, and Leawood Forest will be fierce due to their proximity to one another. Having a player of Ernest's ability is one step in the right direction to bringing Forest these key league points.
Update: Leawood Forest plans to offer an extension to the current contract prior to the end of the year.
